Even so, good luck staying inside, with one of the Caribbean’s best beaches just a few steps away. Mahoe Bay ticks every blissful box: calm, aquamarine waters, soft white sand, snorkelling or scuba potential, palm trees, constant sunshine… Similarly tempting are Sancastle’s freeform, 12-metre pool, its Jacuzzi, its hammock and its tropical gardens – which provide privacy from beachgoers. With cocktail-fuelled sunsets in mind, the villa’s sun terrace and shaded lounge and dining areas border its drinks bar and ice-making machine, while a barbecue grill stands ready should sustenance be required. As far as days out are concerned, Savannah Bay is close, as are rum-soaked reggae bars and beach shacks.
In true Caribbean style, that main house has the focal ‘great room’: a huge open-plan space combining two lounges – one around a TV – another dining table and the fully-equipped kitchen with its central island and stools. Wooden cathedral ceilings and pastel hues accentuate the sense of airy calm.
Great place to stay. We went with three kids, and everyone had a great time. Would work well with two families. Extremely well kept and clean . As nice as anywhere we have stayed. Convenient to both sides of island. You must rent a car. Can't say enough good things.
Sand Castle was fabulous. We spent Christmas week of 2004 there and had a wonderful time! The pool was wonderful, and being right on the beach was a real plus. The layout was very comfortable, if not luxurious, and the porch was perfect for relaxing. It was great to be able to walk up the beach to a great restaurant. We also enjoyed having a cook come to our house and prepare the meal there. Very kid friendly! And the town wasn't too far away. WE would highly recommend it.
One of our concerns when renting villas is the following: What will the beach be like? Is it good for swimming and for our kids. The answer at this villa is a resounding "yes"! The beach is not to be believed!
